Research

This project's initial aim is to develop a geodynamic model, using a numerical boundary element method, of the Earth's interior and to compare it with existing tomographic models. This will lead to unprecedented understanding of the plate-mantle system and of surface processes associated with global tectonic reorganisations. We will be using a new NVIDIA multi-core GPU to optimise reduction of the model to 3D spherical harmonic conventions.
